Basketball Game Preview: San Marcos Royals vs. Buena Bulldogs

The San Marcos Royals will square off against the Buena Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (San Marcos has three straight wins, Buena has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Wednesday, San Marcos didn't have too much trouble with Dos Pueblos as they won 57-42. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Chargers are ranked 384th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Buena scored the most points they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Pacifica by a score of 82-80.

Buena's defeat dropped their record down to 5-19. As for San Marcos, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

San Marcos strolled past Buena when the teams last played on January 10th by a score of 70-53. Will San Marcos repeat their success, or does Buena have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
