Baseball Recap: Jaxon Miller Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Concord

Goshen came out on top against Concord on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The RedHawks never let the Minutemen get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The RedHawks were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Minutemen, so the RedHawks were just returning the favor.

Goshen got a great performance from Ryen Diaz as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Diaz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jaxon Miller was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Cline, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Goshen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Goshen's record now sits at 4-6. As for Concord, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Goshen will take on Wawasee at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The RedHawks are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Concord, they will venture away from home to challenge Warsaw at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Minutemen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
