Volleyball Game Preview: La Costa Canyon Mavericks vs. Carlsbad Lancers

La Costa Canyon is 2-8 against Carlsbad since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Mavericks will host the Lancers at 5:45 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

La Costa Canyon took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Pacific Ridge.

La Costa Canyon had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-21, 25-18, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Carlsbad entered their tilt with Del Norte on Thursday with 14 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 15. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Nighthawks.

Carlsbad never let Del Norte on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 28-26, 25-19.

Carlsbad's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 30-2. As for La Costa Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 11-17.
