Francis Parker came into Friday's match looking for another win against Clairemont, but Gabe Tocco wouldn't allow it. The Chieftains had just enough and edged out the Lancers 3-2 with plenty of help from Tocco, who had 18 kills and ten blocks. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 24 times he's played.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (105-99) Clairemont actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-22, 15-12.

Clairemont had a senior duo take command as Brady Semanisin had nine blocks and Makoa Miner had 19 kills and two blocks.

Despite the loss, Francis Parker saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ethan Brigger had 12 digs.

Clairemont is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-10 record this season. As for Francis Parker, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 21-10 record.

As of now, neither Clairemont nor the Lancers have any future games scheduled.
