Basketball Recap: Aubrey Rogers Skates Past South Fort Myers with Ease

On Tuesday, the Aubrey Rogers Patriots really took it to the South Fort Myers Wolfpack for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-19 victory. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

Aubrey Rogers' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angelina Insana, who went 6 for 11 en route to 17 points along with eight assists and five steals. Insana is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 38 games she's played dating back to last season. Madelyn Hamisch was another key player, going 5 of 10 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Aubrey Rogers smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive matchups.

Despite the defeat, South Fort Myers saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mariah Thorne almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. That was a full 52.6% of South Fort Myers' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ja'Meria Church, who had four points and four blocks.

Aubrey Rogers has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for South Fort Myers, they dropped their record down to 9-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Aubrey Rogers wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-16 win against Community School of Naples on the 23rd. South Fort Myers has also already played their next match, a 72-35 defeat against Gateway Charter on the 22nd.
