Preview: Rutherford Rams vs. Arnold Marlins
Rutherford has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Arnold Marlins at 1:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Rutherford has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 319 points over their last five matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Rutherford gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They really took it to Bay for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-12 win on the road. With Rutherford ahead 52-8 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Rutherford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braniya Baker, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Shakirah Edwards, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Arnold came up short against Munroe on Saturday and fell 51-38.
Despite the defeat, Arnold had strong showings from Madison Humphrey, who scored eight points, and Kaylee Vial, who scored eight points.
Rutherford's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Arnold, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Everything came up roses for Rutherford against Arnold in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 59-11 win. Will Rutherford repeat their success, or does Arnold have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
