Baseball Recap: Liberty Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Acalanes, Liberty was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Campolindo Cougars, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since February 21st.

Jake Farr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Liberty's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rane Miller, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Liberty: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Stevie Wellens was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Liberty now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Campolindo, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Liberty will be taking part in a tournament against Miramonte at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty is facing Miramonte at the right time seeing as Miramonte is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Campolindo, they will host College Park at 4:00 p.m. on the 8th.
