Meanwhile, South View came up short against Seventy-First last Friday and fell 64-55. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Falcons are ranked 67th).
Douglas Byrd will need focus on slowing down Yabniel Cheveres, one of several South View players who made an impact when they last played. He put up 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darin Word, who posted 11 points and five steals.
Douglas Byrd's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for South View, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Douglas Byrd has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like South View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
