Baseball Recap: Palmyra Beats Manheim Central for Their 13th Straight Victory

Palmyra won against Hershey on Wednesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Manheim Central Barons. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Brayden Bown looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Palmyra let Braedon Sommer and Tyler Peck run wild. Sommer went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs, while Peck went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those three RBI gave Sommer a new career-high. Aiden Willard was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

The victory keeps Palmyra at an undefeated 13-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 7.8 runs this season. As for Manheim Central, they moved to 7-5 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmyra will welcome Bishop McDevitt at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Manheim Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Garden Spot at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
