Softball Recap: New Haven's Losing Streak Snapped at 13 Games

New Haven can bid farewell to their 13-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Huntington North Vikings. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 21-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Sophia Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Jewell, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

New Haven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huntington North only posted an OBP of .389.

New Haven's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-21. As for Huntington North, they dropped their record down to 1-17 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Haven will take on Fort Wayne Wayne at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Huntington North, they will challenge Jay County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
