Football Recap: Hillsborough Piles Up the Points Against Middleton

Hillsborough got themselves on the board against Middleton on Friday, but Middleton never followed suit. They breezed past the Tigers to the tune of 35-0. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Terriers' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Hillsborough was led to victory by Tariq Johnson and Derrell Hines. Johnson rushed for 179 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, while Hines gained 125 total yards and two touchdowns. Those 179 rushing yards gave Johnson a new career-high. Hillsborough also got a significant boost from Earl Garcia IV, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.

Hillsborough's run defense was locked in: Middleton could only muster 1.5 yards per carry. While two picked up at least three total tackles, Hines stood above the rest. He rushed for 72 yards and one TD, and also picked up 53 receiving yards and one score. Hillsborough didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.6.

Hillsborough's defense didn't let Teagan Amos-Brooks., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cedric Carrolls, Garcia IV, and Charlie Wells, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Hillsborough's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Middleton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Hillsborough will venture away from home to challenge Armwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Terriers' defense better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 35.5 points per game this season. As for Middleton, they will host Alonso at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
