Softball Recap: Frontier Regional Extends Home Winning Streak to Nine

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Frontier Regional ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Greenfield Green Wave 6-5. The win was nothing new for the Red Hawks as they're now sitting on four straight.

Raine Wonsey spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Frontier Regional let Skyler Steele and Delaney 'Lu' Fifield run wild. Steele went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Fifield went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Liv Machon, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Frontier Regional's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Greenfield, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frontier Regional will host Wahconah Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Greenfield, they will take on Northampton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
