Basketball Recap: Stratford Takes a Loss

Stratford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 65-51 to the Berkeley Stags. The Knights were probably out for revenge after losing 60-38 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Stratford still got an impressive performance from Khristion Swift, who posted 17 points. Swift is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Herman Smith, who had 11 points.

Even though they lost, Stratford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Stratford's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Berkeley, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 13-4.

When Stratford and Berkeley next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Stratford will square off against Goose Creek and their four-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Stratford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Berkeley will try to stop Cane Bay's nine-game winning streak when the meet at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
