Basketball Recap: Lassiter Find Success

Lassiter's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They secured a 48-43 W over the Sequoyah Chiefs. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Chiefs last Tuesday, they had to take a 49-42 loss.

Sophie Hortman had an outrageously good game as she to rack up 18 points along with six boards and five assists. Another player making a difference was Malia Loadwick, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Sequoyah saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carly Bass on her way to 17 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Bass' big performance that afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Cofer, who en route to 12 points.

Lassiter is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-15 record this season. Sequoyah now has a losing record of 14-15.

Lassiter has already played their next match, a 60-56 victory against Roswell on the 18th. As for Sequoyah, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-31 loss against Milton on the 18th.
