Basketball Recap: Buford Comes Up Short

Buford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 56-33 to the Cheraw Braves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellow Jackets of the 57-22 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Cheraw found their leader in sophomore Anyah Banks, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Banks also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Cheraw is 6-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 1-2 otherwise. Jaleah Faulkner was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

Buford's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Cheraw, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.

Buford will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cuthbertson at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Cheraw, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 35-30 win against West Florence on the 21st.
