Baseball Recap: Parkersburg South Victorious

Parkersburg South hadn't done well against Morgantown recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Patriots came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mohigans, sneaking past 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Mohigans back in March, they had to take a 11-5 defeat.

Parkersburg South got a great performance from Parker Vannoy as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Vannoy has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carter McLain, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Parkersburg South is 4-2 when McLain posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was TJ Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Parkersburg South's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-6. As for Morgantown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Parkersburg South wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-1 win against Cabell Midland on the 9th. As for Morgantown, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 19-4 victory against University on the 9th.
