Volleyball Recap: Whiteland Comes Up Short

Whiteland's tournament run continued when they took on Wabash Valley HomeSchool on Saturday. Whiteland fell just short of Wabash Valley HomeSchool by a score of 2-1. While Whiteland didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Wabash Valley HomeSchool 25-17 in the first set.

Whiteland started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-22, 15-9.

Despite the loss, Whiteland saw an underclassman step up: freshman Joseph Ngun had 11 digs and two aces. Those 11 digs set a new season-high mark for Ngun. Lance Rosales also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.

Whiteland's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Wabash Valley HomeSchool, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Whiteland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Kalamazoo Central on the 3rd. As for Wabash Valley HomeSchool, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Indy Genesis HomeSchool on the 3rd.
