Recap: Lyons Lions vs. SkyView Academy Hawks
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Lyons Lions had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-32 victory over the Hawks. Winning may never get old, but Lyons sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Gemma Powell was her usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gen Newell, who scored a point along with 11 rebounds.
SkyView Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lydia Slocum, who scored 13 points. Reagan Martin was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds.
Lyons' win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for SkyView Academy, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 10-12.
Lyons is on the road again on Friday and plays Peyton at 3:00 p.m. on March 1st. Peyton will roll in looking for their 21st straight win, something Lyons surely won't give up without a fight. SkyView Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
