Baseball Game Preview: Hampton Crabbers vs. Heritage Hurricanes

Hampton is a perfect 10-0 against Heritage since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Crabbers will venture away from home to take on the Hurricanes at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hampton has six straight wins, Heritage has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Hampton got the win against Warwick by a conclusive 13-3. Considering the Crabbers have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mat Chaltraw made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hampton got a massive performance out of Ashton Green, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Green a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaycob Flores, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Meanwhile, Heritage lost 30-3 to Phoebus on Tuesday.

Hampton's record is now 13-3. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.

Hampton got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Heritage by a conclusive 10-3 score. Do the Crabbers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hurricanes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
