Basketball Game Preview: Benedictine Bengals vs. Chaney Cowboys

The Benedictine Bengals will venture away from home to square off against the Chaney Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Benedictine knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Chaney likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Benedictine didn't have too much trouble with Padua Franciscan as they won 70-55. The win was all the more spectacular given the Bengals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Bruins are ranked 155th).

Benedictine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gio Ramos led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Ramos a new career-high in points. Noah Whisler was another key player, going 6 for 9 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Chaney suffered their closest loss since January 4th on Sunday. They fell just short of Bedford by a score of 49-47. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The victory got Benedictine back to even at 9-9. As for Chaney, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Benedictine skirted past Chaney 59-57 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Benedictine since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
