Baseball Recap: Robert C. Byrd Triumphs

After losing to Parkersburg the last time they met, Robert C. Byrd decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Robert C. Byrd walked away with a 12-7 victory over Parkersburg on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

JD Ford was a standout: he scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Floyd, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Robert C. Byrd's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Parkersburg, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Robert C. Byrd will head out to square off against Elkins at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Parkersburg, they will venture away from home to challenge Spring Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Parkersburg's pitchers better be ready for this one: Spring Valley has averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
