Basketball Recap: Hamburg Comes Up Short

Hamburg was the 50-49 winner over Watson Chapel when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hamburg Lions took a blow against the Watson Chapel Wildcats on Friday, falling 60-26. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Wildcats are ranked 52nd).

Hamburg's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Watson Chapel, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamburg will welcome Star City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Star City will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Hamburg surely won't give up without a fight. As for Watson Chapel, they will challenge Crossett at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crossett has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with 15 straight losses, while Watson Chapel will come in with three straight victories.
