Softball Game Preview: Canton Warriors vs. Troy Trojans

Canton is 2-8 against Troy since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Canton has given up an average of 14.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Canton lost 18-1 to Towanda on Thursday. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Canton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaylee Ward, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Ward is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Troy got their first taste of in-conference action on Thursday and they started things off strong. They skirted past Williamson 7-6. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won eight in a row.

Troy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Canton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Canton might still be hurting after the 21-0 loss they got from Troy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
