Volleyball Game Preview: DeKalb Barons vs. Huntington North Vikings

DeKalb hasn't had much luck against Huntington North recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Barons will venture away from home to square off against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m.

DeKalb is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Carroll, falling 3-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-12, 25-11.

Huntington North not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on Woodlan with a sharp 3-0 victory.

While Huntington North won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 26-24, 25-18.

DeKalb better keep an eye on Carter Smith. He was instrumental in Huntington North's win, getting 20 digs and one assist.

Huntington North is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. As for DeKalb, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

DeKalb suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Huntington North in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Barons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
