Basketball Game Preview: South Tama County Trojans vs. Benton Bobcats

The South Tama County Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Benton Bobcats at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Tama County has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 6.

Last Friday, South Tama County was beaten by Solon 92-23. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Spartans are ranked 156th).

Meanwhile, Benton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-38 heartbreaker at the hands of Independence. The match marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Benton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for South Tama County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

South Tama County barely slipped by Benton in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 44-43. Will South Tama County repeat their success, or does Benton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
