Recap: Fairfax Lions vs. Alexandria City Titans

The Fairfax Lions lost against the Alexandria City Titans back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Fairfax fell 51-43 to Alexandria City. While losing is never fun, Fairfax can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Alexandria City is ranked 19th).

Fairfax's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cam Love, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Love hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronier Peters, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five steals.

Even though they lost, Fairfax were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alexandria City only racked up nine assists.

Kye Robinson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Alexandria City, scoring 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Robinson is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Darius Bivins was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and five steals.

Fairfax's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Alexandria City, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing West Springfield the next time they take the court. Alexandria City will head out to face West Springfield at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, while Fairfax will head out to face them at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
