Baseball Recap: West Point Comes Up Short

West Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Shadow Ridge Stallions, falling 9-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stallions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 last Tuesday.

West Point saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eduardo Padilla, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another was Jacob Gonzalez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

West Point now has a losing record of 7-8-1. As for Shadow Ridge, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-8-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Point will head out to take on Apollo at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Dragons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Shadow Ridge, they will venture away from home to face off against O'Connor at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Stallions surely won't give up without a fight.
