Volleyball Recap: Evan Sun Key Part of Team Effort in Delta Kings Win

After losing to Venture Academy the last time they met, Stagg decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Stagg Delta Kings skirted past the Venture Academy Mustangs 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Delta Kings.

Stagg had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19, 15-6.

Stagg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evan Sun led the charge by getting 23 kills, 14 digs, and five aces. What's more, Sun posted two assists, the most he's had over his last three matchups. Angelo Lagrimas was another key player, getting 12 digs and two aces.

Sun wasn't the only good server: Stagg was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That's a new trend for Stagg: they were averaging 1.2 aces per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 7.8.

Stagg's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-6. As for Venture Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Stagg will be playing in front of their home fans against McNair at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Venture Academy, they will host Bear Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
