Volleyball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Mt. Carmel's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Mt. Carmel unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of St. Mary's Dominican by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against St. Mary's Dominican this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 two weeks ago.

Mt. Carmel wouldn't go down easily and took St. Mary's Dominican into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-18, 20-25, 24-26, 15-12.

Despite the loss, Mt. Carmel still got an impressive performance from Kyleigh Smith, who had 15 digs and one assist. Smith is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Mt. Carmel's loss dropped their record down to 34-4. As for St. Mary's Dominican, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 32-4.

Mt. Carmel has already played their next match (against Parkview Baptist), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for St. Mary's Dominican, they will take on Riverdale at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
