Football Recap: Weatherford Christian Comes Up Short

Weatherford Christian lost against Azle Christian back in November of 2017, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lions were beaten by the Fighting Crusaders 53-8.

Grayson Smith had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 114 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, while also catching one score for Azle Christian. Smith also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Weatherford Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Azle Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Weatherford Christian will square off against Heritage Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Azle Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Temple Christian at 7:30 p.m. The Fighting Crusaders will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
