Baseball Recap: Edinburgh Takes a Loss

Edinburgh had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-9 to make it 11. They came up short against the North Decatur Chargers, falling 20-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lancers of the 8-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Connor Scott was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases and one run. Braiden Dewey also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

As for North Decatur, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

On North Decatur's side, Wyatt Reisman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Reisman was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nolan Burkhart, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Grayson Downey, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

While Edinburgh had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
