Softball Game Preview: Sierra Canyon Trailblazers vs. Harvard-Westlake Wolverines

The Sierra Canyon Trailblazers are taking a road trip to challenge the Harvard-Westlake Wolverines at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sierra Canyon will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Sierra Canyon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Golden Valley 26-0 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Nylah Melendez, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Natalia Areliz, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.

Sierra Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .722. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Harvard-Westlake lost 8-2 to Viewpoint on Thursday. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sierra Canyon has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Harvard-Westlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.
