Preview: Evans Knights vs. Woodward Academy War Eagles
The Evans Knights will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Woodward Academy War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on November 10th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Evans' game was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They strolled past South Effingham with points to spare, taking the game 35-20. The win was just what Evans needed coming off of a 35-7 defeat in their prior match.
Rayshaun King had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 237 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Ej Hogan also helped out as he racked up 112 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Woodward Academy came tearing into Friday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 45-6 win over Forest Park at home. Woodward Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight matches by 23 points or more this season.
Woodward Academy can attribute much of their success to Lucas Farrington, who rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Evans' victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Woodward Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
