Recap: Savio Eagles vs. Regents Knights

After flying high against the Concordia Cardinals last Saturday, the Savio Eagles came back down to earth. Savio was beaten by Regents 64-26 on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Savio in their matchups with Regents: they've now lost five in a row.

Savio's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Blood, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds. Blood hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Espinoza, who scored 11 points.

Savio has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Regents, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 17-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Savio's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hyde Park at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. As for Regents, they will challenge St. Michael's at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. Michael's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 18 matchups.
