Basketball Game Preview: Southern Bulldogs vs. Crofton

The Southern Bulldogs will head out to take on Crofton at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Southern is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Meade just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They received a blow as they fell 60-46 to the Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Mustangs are ranked 50th).

Meanwhile, Crofton was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 42-41 to Severna Park. Crofton has struggled against Severna Park recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Crofton's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Southern, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Southern came up short against Crofton in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 61-56. Can Southern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
