Softball Game Preview: Jeffersontown Chargers vs. Spencer County Bears

Jeffersontown hasn't had much luck against Spencer County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Chargers will head out on the road to square off against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. Spencer County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Jeffersontown, who comes in off a win.

Jeffersontown will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Presentation last Thursday. The Chargers were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Toppers. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Chargers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Spencer County lost 14-8 to Shelby County on Thursday. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kaylen Newton led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Aniston Johnson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Jeffersontown's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Spencer County, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Jeffersontown suffered a grim 23-8 defeat to Spencer County when the teams last played back in April. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
