Baseball Recap: Osakis Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

While Osakis's win against Wadena-Deer Creek wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Silverstreaks had just enough and edged out the Wolverines 4-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Silverstreaks also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Wyatt Klimek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Osakis' success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-10 when he doesn't). Klimek was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Reggie George was incredible, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

The victory snapped Osakis' losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-11 record. As for Wadena-Deer Creek, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.

Looking ahead, Osakis will square off against Sauk Centre at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wadena-Deer Creek, they will challenge St. Cloud Cathedral at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
