Baseball Game Preview: Silver Bluff Bulldogs vs. Westside Patriots

The Silver Bluff Bulldogs will square off against the Westside Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Silver Bluff didn't have quite enough to beat Swansea and fell 6-5.

AJ Fontanez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Blake Freeland, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Westside, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Hephzibah on Saturday.

The team relied heavily on Chase Burley, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Westside's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't).

Silver Bluff's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Westside, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Silver Bluff has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Westside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
