Basketball Recap: Field Kindley Comes Up Short

Field Kindley easily dispatched Belle Plaine last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Field Kindley Golden Tornado fell just short of the Labette County Grizzlies by a score of 47-45 on Friday. The Golden Tornado lost against the Grizzlies in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 74-44 score last time.

Labette County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landry Obrien, who posted 22 points in addition to six boards and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Obrien has scored at least a third of Labette County's points. Aubrey Boss was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Field Kindley's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Labette County, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Field Kindley will challenge Pittsburg on Friday. Labette County has already played their next matchup (against Winfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
