Basketball Recap: Lutheran West Comes Up Short

Lutheran West lost against Trinity back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lutheran West Longhorns lost 59-38 to the Trinity Trojans. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Trinity's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nilah Thornton led the charge by going 7 of 12 on her way to 17 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Thornton a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaynia Campbell, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 15 points.

Lutheran West now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Trinity, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Lutheran West will take on Tuslaw in a tournament on Saturday. Tuslaw will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Lutheran West surely won't give up without a fight. As for Trinity, they will host Brooklyn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Trinity is facing Brooklyn at the right time seeing as Brooklyn is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
