Recap: Sylmar Spartans vs. Eagle Rock Eagles
The Sylmar Spartans's three-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Eagle Rock and snuck past 73-71. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Sylmar's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gustavo Lopez, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Lopez has scored at least 25% of Sylmar's points. Joseph Dickson, Jr was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
Sylmar's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.7 points per game. As for Eagle Rock, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
Sylmar won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Schurr at 11:30 a.m. on December 29th. Schurr is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Eagle Rock will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marshall at 4:30 p.m. on January 10, 2024.
