Basketball Recap: Bryson Mena's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northridge over Roosevelt

Northridge lost against Roosevelt back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Northridge Grizzlies came up short against the Roosevelt Roughriders, falling 60-40. The Grizzlies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.

Northridge lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bryson Mena, who posted four points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Mena a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Orlando Cano, who had five points.

Nolan Peterson was a one-man wrecking crew for Roosevelt as he went 8 of 12 en route to 19 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Peterson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Brooks Reckard was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Northridge's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Roosevelt, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Northridge will square off against Wellington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northridge is facing Wellington at the right time seeing as Wellington is stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Roosevelt, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greeley Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Roosevelt is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season.
