Softball Recap: Rison Has No Trouble Against Drew Central

Rison barely beat Drew Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Pirates on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won six in a row.

Carlese Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Rhagen Price was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Layne Potter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Rison's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Drew Central, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Rison and Drew Central could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings. The Wildcats will challenge Quitman at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (133 vs. 26). Meanwhile, Drew Central (ranked 152nd) will meet Smackover (ranked 19th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
