Bishop O'Connell posted their biggest win since December 28, 2024 on Wednesday. They blew past the Gainesville Cardinals 59-38. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Cardinals are ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop O'Connell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniya Brown led the charge by putting up 15 points. Another player making a difference was Carly Sweazie, who posted 13 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Bishop O'Connell and bumps their season record up to 13-9. As for Gainesville, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop O'Connell will head out to face off against Bishop Ireton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gainesville, they will head out on the road to challenge Patriot at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
