Basketball Recap: Dublin Falls Despite Big Games from Chris Dixon and Jaydon Mcrae

Dublin fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Academy for Classical Education on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Gryphons by a score of 60-57. The Fighting Irish were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gryphons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the loss, Dublin had strong showings from Jaydon McRae, who shot 40% from the field en route to 20 points, and Chris Dixon, who posted nine points along with six boards and five assists. McRae continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Caldwell, who had seven points and seven rebounds.

Academy for Classical Education's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camden Bailey, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 18 points and four steals. Bailey is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Bryson Vincent was another key player, putting up 15 points and eight boards.

Dublin is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for Academy for Classical Education, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Dublin will take on Wilkinson County in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Academy for Classical Education and Georgia Military College will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
