Preview: Centaurus Warriors vs. Greeley Central Wildcats
Centaurus and Greeley Central are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Centaurus Warriors will play host again and welcome the Greeley Central Wildcats, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Centaurus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday.
Last Friday, Centaurus took a serious blow against Windsor, falling 59-23. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Centaurus in their matchups with Windsor: they've now lost eight in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Clara Halloran, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ingrid Lorton, who scored five points along with five blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Centaurus struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-4) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Meanwhile, Greeley Central waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Silver Creek 46-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Greeley Central has posted against Silver Creek since February 2, 2018.
Centaurus has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Greeley Central, their victory bumped their record up to 6-15.
Centaurus ended up a good deal behind Greeley Central in their previous meeting back in January, losing 55-40. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Greeley Central's Madison Sepeda, who scored 36 points along with six assists and three steals. Now that Centaurus knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
