Columbus took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 65-62 victory over the Northside Patriots. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 54-45 win the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.
Despite the defeat, Northside saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Xavier Davies shot 50% from the field en route to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nasir Fowler, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.
Columbus didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-52 loss against Whitewater on the 15th. As for Northside, they will challenge LaGrange at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
