Deming is 2-8 against Santa Teresa since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Desert Warriors at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Deming's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last seven matches.
Deming came out on top against Silver on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 15-run third inning. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 22-3 margin over the Fighting Colts. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Fighting Colts: they've now won five in a row.
Royce Sutton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Sutton was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Deming got a massive performance out of Fabian Ortega, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave Ortega a new career-high. Estevan Mariscal was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Deming kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Santa Teresa unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 13-7 to Chaparral. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Desert Warriors have suffered since March 8, 2024.
Like Deming, Santa Teresa also got a great game from a two-way player: Jose Romo. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Romo has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
Romo wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Deming pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Santa Teresa, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 16-6.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Deming hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Santa Teresa struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Deming might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Santa Teresa in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
