Baseball Game Preview: Hidalgo Pirates vs. Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets

The Hidalgo Pirates will start their season against the Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets. First pitch is scheduled at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Edcouch-Elsa is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Donna North. That's two games in a row now that the Yellowjackets have lost by exactly two runs.

Their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

As for Hidalgo, they've got a clean slate this season. Last year, they finished on the right side of .500 (13-10-2), and they're hoping to kick off an even more successful campaign this year.

Hidalgo took their win against Edcouch-Elsa in their previous matchup back in February of 2019 by a conclusive 14-4. Will Hidalgo repeat their success, or does Edcouch-Elsa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
