Basketball Recap: Marie Philip Comes Up Short

Marie Philip was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 45-22 to the Rochester School for the Deaf Wildcats. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Galloping Ghosts came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 33rd in Massachusetts, while the Wildcats are ranked 301st in New York).

Marie Philip got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Faith Kirlis and Vanessa Danoue, who each put up eight points. Kirlis also led the team in rebounds with 13.

Rochester School for the Deaf's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evangeline Fisher-Palmer, who went 6-for-12 en route to 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Fisher-Palmer is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last five games she's played. Brooklyn Christenson was another key player, going 6-for-11 on her way to 12 points.

Marie Philip's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Rochester School for the Deaf, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.

Marie Philip didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 29-24 defeat against Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf on the 15th. As for Rochester School for the Deaf, they have also already played their next game, a 45-28 victory against American School for the Deaf on the 15th.
